I got Cytus II for free in a limited-time offer because I'm a fan of rhythm games and it seemed to look less weird than Cytus 1. Let me tell you why you get downvotes: because your complaints has nothing to do with the game's quality but your own personal preferences. You don't have to like everything about a game, but calling something 'worst' while you barely even played it is stupid. Also the offline play is something I've never experience. If that's an issue, what you should do is inform customer service of your issue instead of bitching on reddit about the game being bad.Next, how many cutscenes have you experienced? No, at most you encountered like 2 (since judging by your comments you didn't play very far into the game). Not to mention the cutscenes only occurred on your first play.
If you want to skip a cutescene the very first time you watched it, that has nothing to do with the game itself. If you want to skip one of 2 cutscenes in a game, then I'm sorry; YOU'RE the problem, not the game.Next, why is the song select chopped into 4 parts? Oh, I don't know, probably because each part represents different genres of music??? I believe you're so called 'sane' rhythm games probably also have options like 'categories' 'Genres' so you can trim down the list to actually find your song. No, being different is not 'insane'.
You can say you don't like it, but there is no right or wrong in designing a song select menu. Not to mention the developers went the extra length to give 'song select' a representing character and added different flares to their song select screens. That's one quality not many rhythm games have. Also when you say 4, I guess you never even bother to scroll right? Cause there are 7 characters in total. One song is visible at a time is an issue?
WTF are you talking about? That's not an 'issue'; that's your personal preference. You can say 'I wish for an option so I could quick scan all the songs at once'. That would be a valid suggestion, but no. You declared the current display bad simply because you don't 'like' it.
Well, too bad. Finally, if you don't like the tacky social media thing, fine. It's again another personal preference.
You don't have to read the social media posts you know. Just click the post, unlock the song, back to playing. The fact that you want a 'mark all as read' function tells us that you don't even want to bother exploring all the game has to offer. If that's the case, then you don't have the right to call anything 'worst'.If you hate the tutorial, then just complain about the tutorial. The fact that you made your complaint about the entire game when your main issue is with the FUCKIN tutorial (and an isolated, fixable offline bug that probably will be fine if you contact CS), then no wonder you get crap. What's wrong with a rhythm game trying to incorporate some RPG elements? It's a different approach that many people seem to like.
Like many said before, you seem to have a fixed image on how a rhythm game 'should' be. Sorry to inform you, but no game 'should' be anything. They can be whatever they want as long as it's not buggy and players like it. Also, I've yet to hear a single comment from you about the actual 'rhythm game' bits of the game. All you did was complain about the additional stuff while you completely failed to mention the actual 'design' part of a rhythm game (The music, the rhythm gameplay and the charts). Also, you do realize this is the 'Cytus' reddit with many people who are clearly fans of the game right?
And yet you're wondering why people gave you downvotes for your whiny post about nonsense on a game they like?. I thought you were referring to the tutorial, as you quoted my use of 'bad design'.Although I cannot replicate your problem, it is safe for me to say that calling the game 'one of the worst-designed rhythm games' is unjustified for a few reasons:. You have an isolated bug/issue. Calling a game 'one of the worst-designed rhythm games' is generally for its in-game features, mechanics, music selection etc.
Not for a bug that should and will be fixed. Granted, being unable to play is unfortunate, but calling it 'one of the worst-designed rhythm games' without even playing it is simply ridiculous.I understand your frustration and would advise you to contact support or ask for help before outright criticising the game. To the people downvoting OP: The first 5 minutes of experiencing a game is crucial to your perception of the game, especially since this is a mobile game. (Or in this case 30 minutes, since this is a paid app. How many games have you dropped after a single day of play, because it didn't grab your attention?)C2 definitely takes the cake on how beginner-unfriendly its tutorial is. I really loved its minimalistic aesthetics as an avid rhythm gamer, but I'm not who the designers should cater to when designing the tutorial.
Definitely a miss on Rayark's part.
